Is it okay to skip breakfast or is it really the most important meal of the day? Well, according to health experts, breakfast is called the most important meal for a reason. When you eat breakfast you are kickstarting your metabolism and replenishing your body from hours of fasting.
The foods you consume in the morning go to work to resupply you with glucose to provide you with energy and alertness as well as the necessary nourishment.
Health experts point out that there is no benefit to skipping breakfast. They do say that eating breakfast not only provides you with energy, in the long run, it is helpful in weight management and is known to reduce the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
However, if you’re not into food in the a.m., not to worry. There are other health professionals who explain that although breakfast is named for just that, to break the fast (from sleeping), everyone will eventually do so by eating whether it’s at 7:00 a.m. or noon.
They also say that there are no clinical studies that prove (per se) that breakfast really is the most important meal of the day, but that it’s what you eat throughout the day that matters.
